Life is a Journey full of Stories
Be the Hero of your own
Humans create stories out of anything. The moment something happens to us, we immediately make a story out of it. By telling stories, we give sense and meaning to what we experience in our lives.
All these stories within us make us who we are, what we do and how we think of ourselves, as individuals, as a team, as an organization. The stories we tell others and ourselves connect us with our “Inner Self”.
Stories empower us to have impact, so we can achieve what we dream of as hero’s of our own lives.
But…. stories can also hinder and divide us. They hold us back in who we would like to be. They divide us in what we want to achieve together as a team or organisation. And how we do it.
This can be by stories we tell ourselves. But we are also influenced by stories others tell us.
Most of the time we are not aware at all of the impact of these stories. We just take them for granted.
If you dive into your own stories, you’ll see how much wisdom is hidden in there. If you jump into the told and untold stories of your team and organisation you’ll get together in a great flow of energy.
Discover your story
… As an organization
Searching for a vision or a corporate story that has the support of your employees from the beginning? Curious how innovation and creativity can go hand in hand with your daily processes and results?
Or wondering why you don’t succeed in what you want to achieve?
Focus on the stories active in your company. The power and acceleration is in there. In the told and untold stories everybody knows.
In there you’ll discover the ridge changes and challenges for the (near) future.
… As a team
In a team individual stories of team members and the stories active inside and outside the organisation come together. These stories reinforce each other, but they can certainly also hinder the growth and strength of a team.
Is your team not as effective as it could be?
Are there tensions or don’t you succeed in making your dream come true?
Untangle your mingled stories. Focus on the different layers of the team story. You all gain new insights and get the essence of what is going on in the surface and under currents.

…As a human
In the Narrative Work we approach life as a story. This helps unravel the complexities of life. Every story has a basic structure and is build up with different narrative elements.
To be concrete: every person is the hero of his or her own life story. You won’t be able to control what happens to you and which “dragons” you encounter. You do have a choice in how you respond to it.
As a Narrative Coach I support to unravel all the different stories in your life. All the stories of a person are mingled, but sometimes they are that tangled that it hinders you in being who you want to be.
The story of the Hero and the Dragon
You are the hero of your own life story. Maybe you don’t always feel like a hero. But you determine the goal of your own life journey. And you decide conscious or subconscious how to achieve that goal.
A fictional story is only interesting to listen to when something exciting happens. Dragons, bad guys, who should be defeated. This mission benefits the hero of the story.
This also applies for our own lives. We need difficult situations to grow as heros of our own life stories. These difficult situations (or persons) I call them your ‘dragons’, because dragons always guard a treasure that the hero needs to achieve his goal.
So the dragons in your life are there for a reason. They guard a treasure that is of value to you in order to grow.
Who or what is your dragon? What treasure is he guarding?

Listening, connecting and imagining
Every story, whether fictional or true, contains more information than you think. We often share information subconsciously in the under current of the story. The information to clearly hear as a listener or see as a reader between the lines.
As a narrative consultant and narrative coach I support you and/of the members of the group in bringing this subconscious undercurrent information to the surface. Think of
- systemic information about your family of origin or about the organization you work for
- your worldview
- archetypal and metaphorical information about what image you have of yourself or how you look at the situation.
I listen to all these different layers of you or your stories. And together with you and/or the members of the group I bring out the hidden information from the undercurrent. So that you all can reconnect with it.
From there we decide and visualize how the continuation of your journey looks like in concrete steps in the short and long term.
