Narrative work in organisations stimulates your organisational learning and development in an impressive way. There is so much wisdom and knowledge in your organisation that isn’t used nor valued.
In the webinar ‘Narrative Work in organisations’ you’ll enter the magical world of the stories active in your organisation. You’ll discover how narratives told by any of your stakeholders supports or hinders the learning and development of your employees or colleagues. You
- get to know some theories on narrative organisation development
- discover how quantitative and qualitative data complement the issues in your teams, or with customers
- get to learn a narrative exercise you can apply yourself
- experience the value of narrative work yourself
What is ‘Narrative Work’?
In the narrative work we explore the stories behind the quantitative data. The figures, facts, results of surveys give some insights. Valuable information, but these figures don’t tell the whole story.
Below there is a source of stories you normally don’t hear nor listen to. Narratives that tell a deeper, more profound story of your organisation:
- stories shared between colleagues after that important teammeeting…
- stories told in the coffee corner…
- stories your clients share at birthday parties about your products or services…
- stories a supplier tells about the purchasing department…
- etc.
All these narratives together contain a wealth of information. Patterns active in your organisation, assumptions, contradictions that hinder the growth of your company and of your employees. But those same stories contain the innovative ideas and insights that stimulates that growth too.
They contain insights that normally get lost in the delusion of the day. Unless you start the Narrative Work in your organisation.
Experience yourself
During the webinar you’ll experience the value of narrative work yourself. After your registration you get a ‘story form’ to share one or more situations concerning your work. On that same ‘story form’ you’ll indicate those situations yourself too. Return the form at least one day before the webinar. You can share as much situations and experiences you want to.
The power of working with narratives is that you are the one who decides which stories you share. Stories you think or feel are important. This is the basic difference between surveys and the narrative work. In surveys it’s the questioner who decides which topic is central in the questionnaire. In the narrative work it is the storyteller who decides which topic should be central.
In the webinar I’ll deepen this difference. For the story form the bottom line is: share whatever you want to share, as long as it is work related.
